On the darkest night of the year, the 14th night of the lunar month & the night before the new moon (March 11) we celebrate the Grace of Shiva, the one who is considered the Adi yogi, or the first yogi. 

Maha Shivaratri which means “the Great Night of Shiva” and it is said that, “the planetary positions on this night are such that there is a powerful natural upsurge of energy in the human system. It is considered as a sacred day for physical and spiritual growth. 

To prepare for this powerful night we will be chanting these two Stotras over the next 6 weeks. 

śivamānasa pōjā – 3 classes ~ Feb, 3, 10, 17

liṅgāṣṭakam – 3 classes ~ Feb 24, March 3 & 10 

We end the 6 weeks with a discussion on what practices can be followed on Maha Shivratri, March 11th.
