There is a version of yoga that was never meant to be a wellness trend
This is where you study it
A Modern Educational Sanctuary Rooted in Traditional Yoga
Advanced Mentorship for yoga teachers and serious practitioners, rooted in the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali, Vedic chanting, classical Āyurveda, and the living Krishnamacharya lineage. Online and in person internationally.
IS THIS YOU?
I finished my yoga teacher training and something's still missing
•
I have a practice but missing a lineage, community, and sense of where I belong in this tradition
•
I don’t know how to work with injury with confidence and understanding
•
I want to learn what traditional yoga actually is, not just teach posture
•
I want to be part of a community of serious teachers and practitioners who share my values
•
I want to carry this tradition forward without watering it down
If you recognise yourself here, you’re in the right place.
SO MUCH YOGA.
SO LITTLE TRUTH.
There is more yoga available today than at any point in history. And most of it is surface-level, fragmented, and disconnected from its Indic roots.
Every yoga teacher feels this disconnect, even when they can’t name it.
You’re standing in front of a room. You know the sequence, the cues. And something tells you there is an entire dimension of this work you haven’t touched yet.
How do you actually see the person in front of you?
What does it mean to enter someone’s space with real understanding?
What is yoga āsana actually doing, beyond the shape of the body?
What does it mean to be a yoga teacher, not just a yoga instructor?
These questions don’t get answered in a teacher training. They get answered through years of study, yoga philosophy, lineage, and direct transmission.
These questions have answers.
This is where the searching stops.
Tara Mitra Yoga is an institute for the advanced study of yoga in its complete form; philosophy, Vedic chanting, Āyurveda, yoga therapy, and practice, enriched by masters in Vedic philosophy, Āyurveda, and yoga anatomy.
Rooted in the Krishnamacharya lineage. Transmitted the way it has always been transmitted, directly, from teacher to student.
Yoga is a complete system of knowledge.
This is where you study it whole.
YOUR STUDY PATH
Different entry points. The same uncompromising depth.
The Mentorship Program
Most yoga teachers know how to teach a class. Very few know how to truly see the student in front of them.
This program is a comprehensive study for yoga teachers ready to move beyond technique into the complete architecture of what it means to teach yoga.
-
Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali, Samkhya, Antaraṅga Yoga, Vedic philosophy, classical Āyurveda, anatomy, and the integrity of the teacher-student relationship, studied with Tara and the full faculty.
This is not about adding more skills. It is about becoming the yoga teacher you always sensed you could be.
On-Demand Courses
Study real yoga on your own schedule; anytime, anywhere. Yoga philosophy, Prāṇāyāma, Āyurvedic nutrition, yoga anatomy, Vedic chanting. Taught with the same depth and integrity as everything at Tara Mitra Yoga.
-
No waiting for the next intake. No fixed schedule. Just the teachings, available the moment you are ready.
This is where many students begin their journey here. And where many never stop.
Live Classes & 1:1 Study
This is the most personalised form of study available. One teacher. One student. Built entirely around your practice, your body and your specific questions. The way yoga has been taught for thousands of years.
-
Daily live classes and private one-to-one sessions with Tara Mitra and Dr Rob in Vedic chanting, pranayama, yoga therapy, Ayurveda, injury management, and anatomy. Every session built entirely around you. Your practice. Your body. Your breath. Your next step.
Workshops & Retreats
Tara teaches in person selectively, an annual immersion in India every January, summer intensives with Dr Rob, and a small number of events throughout the year. This is a deliberate choice. Fewer workshops means deeper presence for every student, in every room. Spaces are limited. They fill quickly.
WHAT STUDENTS SAY

विश्वपा
VIŚVAPĀ, THE COMMUNITY
Viśvapā, that which uplifts the world. The universal protector. The nourisher of all.
Invoking the Sun, the Moon, and Fire, the three great sources of light and life in Vedic cosmology. Viśvapā is the name of this living thriving community of yoga teachers and practitioners from around the world.
When you study at Tara Mitra Yoga you do not join a platform. You enter a community of serious teachers and practitioners from Buenos Aires to USA, Czech Republic to Canada, France to Kazakhstan, who are done searching in pieces and committed to studying the whole of yoga.
You’ve been looking for your people. They’re here.
WHY LINEAGE?
Yoga has survived for thousands of years not because it was popular, but because it was protected. Passed from teacher to student with precision, devotion, and the understanding that this knowledge changes people at the deepest level.
What is taught at Tara Mitra Yoga is rooted in lineage and the full breadth of Indic knowledg: the Vedas, the Darsanas, Vedic philosophy, and classical Ayurveda. Not as history. As a living transmission.
Tara Mitra is a committed voice for the decolonisation of yoga, the restoration of this knowledge to its Indic roots, taught with the cultural depth and integrity it was always meant to carry.
