Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient system of Yoga that was taught by Vamana Rishi in the Yoga Korunta Krishnamacharya in the early 1900’s by his Guru Rama Mohan Brahmachari.
Tara teaches this method as received from R. Saraswathi Jois & other senior teachers from this tradition.
A traditional style of yoga where breath and movement are synchronized along with a series of postures. This creates an internal heat allowing toxins to be released from the muscles and organs within the body. This cleansing of the body leads to the cleansing and silencing of the mind when practiced over a long period of time, practicing with dedication and in the correct manner.
Ashtanga Yoga is unique in the way that students practice in a group setting at their own pace while under the guidance of a teacher. This allows the teacher to work with each student individually customizing their practice to suit their personal needs.
Ashtanga is practiced six days a week. Rest days are every Saturday and on the New Moon and Full Moon. It is recommended that ladies should not practice on the first three days of their cycle otherwise known as “ladies’ holiday”.
